Hello. I'm Elizabeth and I love messy paintings!
It took me a long time to embrace the messiness - I mean, I trained as an architect and community planner where precision and logic generally rule! I spent more than 20 years thinking I wasn't doing art right because it didn't look perfect. Architecture students sketch a lot, both for their craft and for fun, but I was often disappointed with my results - except when I was only half paying attention. I learned that if I quit overthinking my work, it was more fun and I enjoyed the process and end result.
Inks and watercolors lend themselves to messiness and to the artist giving up complete control of the painting. Watercolor purists will say that "blooms" and "bleeds" are mistakes. I embrace them! I love that the medium has a mind of its own, and that my paintings are unpredictable.
I hope you enjoy them too!
